Wednesday is the Last Day to Request Absentee Ballot To Be Mailed

 

 

POLK COUNTY, FL (October 25, 2013) –  Polk County voters who plan to vote by mail in the November 5th Municipal Election have through Wednesday, October 30th to submit a request for a ballot to be mailed. Requests for absentee ballots can be made by contacting the elections office at 534-5888 or online at polkelections.com. Absentee ballots may be returned by mail or dropped off at Elections Headquarters until 7:00pm on Election Day.

JIM MALLESS FOR LAKELAND CITY COMMISSIONER

 

LAKELAND, FL (February 27, 2013). - Local commercial realtor and business owner, Jim Malless, 56, has announced his candidacy for Lakeland City Commissioner. Malless has lived and worked in the Lakeland area for over 20 years.  He is the owner of Wiley & Malless, LLC, a Commercial Real Estate firm and Wireless Planning Services, LLC, a consulting firm that provides planning and zoning services to the development community and to wireless providers. 

Malless attended Indiana University and Purdue University at Indianapolis where he received a BS in Public Affairs with a concentration in Urban Studies and a Masters of Public Affairs with a concentration in Public Financial Administration.

Prior to owning his own business and working as a commercial realtor, Malless managed a three-state zoning program for OMP, Inc a major southeastern United States tower building company.

His skills, honed in business and civic activities, include;

  • Group decision-making  
  • Conflict management
  • Resource management
  • Financial analysis
  • Budget management

 

“My experience in zoning, land use and commercial real estate will prove a valuable asset in my role as city commissioner. The future of Lakeland is of great concern not only for me but for future generations. Building on all the work that has been done by previous generations to meet our growing community’s needs is the key to our success,” said Malless.

Jim has been extremely active in the Lakeland community and is currently the chairman of the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority, as well as the Downtown Community Redevelopment Advisory Board. Active in the arts, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Polk Museum of Art, the Board of Directors of Arts on the Park, and Polk County’s Tourist Development Council (TDC) Art and Cultural Committee.  He is member of the Leadership Lakeland Class XIV and has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Lakeland since 1999 serving as the club’s president in 2009.  Additionally, Mr. Malless has been a member of the boards of the City of Lakeland Historic Preservation and Historic Lakeland, Inc. where he served two terms as president.
