National Public Works Week Celebration takes place in Downtown on Friday, May 6th.

The City of Lakeland’s Public Works Department will be celebrating the American Public Works Association National Public Works Week (NPWW) from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011 as part of Downtown Lakeland’s First Friday event. First Friday celebrates downtown each month with music and entertainment along the streets.  A classic car show will highlight the May 6th event.

The NPWW celebration will be In Munn Park featuring displays from each division from the City of Lakeland Public Works Department.  Some of the feature displays include: heavy duty equipment, Lakes & Stormwater awareness campaigns, pedestrian & bicycle safety, solid waste collection, recycling materials and much more! Along with these events there will be children’s activities, give-a-ways and fun for the whole family!

Everyone is invited to the May 6th First Friday event and the celebration of NPWW.  On May 6th parking is free beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Main Street Parking Garage.  Additional free parking is available in the Bay Street Lot, the Oak Street Park & Ride and old fire station lot located at 400 E. Main St.
