May 17th Planning & Zoning Board Meeting Highlights

At the Planning and Zoning Board meeting held on Tuesday, May 17th the board voted to approve: Minor modification of an existing PUD (Planning Unit Development) zoning for the Oakbridge DRI to allow a maximum height of 13 feet for accessory buildings (Cabanas) within The Sanctuary, located on Sanctuary Circle. The Sanctuary is a self-contained subdivision buffered by water bodies and golf courses , not adjacent to any other residential subdivision, located within the confines of the Oakbridge development.

The board approved a request by Rooms To Go, to construct an eight foot tall, sound barrier wall, along the West, South and North sides of their warehouse project, located on the East side of Airport Rd. at Gay Rd.

The Board also approved a minor modification of an existing PUD to include a 24 unit one-story building and a 14 unit two-story building in expansion plans for an assisted living facility on property located at 4250 Lakeland Highlands Road.

A request for a conditional use to allow a church in a residential structure on property located at 240 Fernery Road was Denied.

The board approved zoning and a conditional use to allow Chemical and Allied Products Manufacturing (air separation facility) on property located west of North Combee Road approximately 1,800 feet north of Saddle Creek Road.

Also Approved was zoning with a conditional use to allow a church and school grades Prekindergarten through Twelve on property located at 4210 Lakeland Highlands Road.

Proposed changes were approved, to the Land Development Regulations including: permitted uses in various zoning districts, clarification of accessory dwelling unit regulations, update of illustration pertaining to residential fences and walls, update of sidewalk regulations and reduction in parking requirement for banks and credit unions in the C-6 district.

In final action the board approved future land use and PUD zoning on property located south of Drane Field Road and east of Hamilton Road to construct a solar power generation facility, for Lakeland Electric, on two parcels of land owned by The City of Lakeland.
