The Lakeland Center Implements
Changes to Event Parking Policy

Lakeland, FL –By order of the Lakeland City Commission The Lakeland Center is restructuring their event parking fees and guidelines. Event parking for regular-sized vehicles will increase by one dollar to $8 per vehicle, per entry. Parking for oversized vehicles and overnight parking will increase by five dollars to $15 and $35 respectively per vehicle, per entry. The new rates take effect November 10, 2013 and fees  may vary for select event. A full day/multiple entry parking pass may be purchased for $10 regular vehicles and $19 oversized vehicles.

The rate changes reflect several improvements made by The Lakeland Center to better serve patrons and guests. A new point of sale system has been installed at the parking kiosks accepting credit and debit purchases for the first time allowing for greater customer convenience and speedier transactions. The Lakeland Center also provides parking patrols and is continuously maintaining the lots for the comfort of all guests. The new rates are reflective of those charged at similar Central Florida facilities.

“Making changes to the rates was challenging and this decision was not taken lightly by our staff or the City of Lakeland Commissioners. However, this allows The Lakeland Center to offer improved customer service and an overall better experience for our guests. We strive to provide proper staff supervision and maintenance in our lots providing guests a pleasurable experience,” said Executive Director Michael LaPan when asked about the rate restructuring decision.

LAKELAND, FL (September 26, 2013) -- Starting in October downtown Lakeland will soon see a new type of metering system in the parking lot at Munn Park and Lot D located at 200 N. Kentucky Avenue.  The pay by space meters are solar powered and they make paying for parking more convenient than ever. The new pay by space meters accept nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar bills but they also accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit and debit cards.

The pay by space meters are now installed.  However, they won’t go live until the morning of October 7th and during the first week of operation, warning citations will be issued to those that receive violations in the two pay by space lots.  Enforcement will begin October 14th.  It must be noted that traditional coin operated meters located in other parking lots will continue to be enforced during the one week grace period.  The grace period only pertains to the pay by space systems located at Munn Park lot and Lot D.

At each pay by space meter location there are "Pay Here" signs that direct patrons where to pay for their parking.  When using the pay by space meter, a visitor needs to enter the assigned parking space number into the meter along with the method of payment.
