National Telecommunications Week

The Lakeland Police Department is celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunications Week April 13 – 19, 2014. This week, is celebrated annually and honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.

The City of Lakeland recognized National Public Safety Telecommunications Week by releasing an official Proclamation on Monday, April 7, 2014.

Police officers across the nation depend on the expertise and skill of telecommunications personnel to direct them during a call for service. These men and women serve a critical role in every call that a police officer responds to and even though they are not seen, are important personnel to the department. It is with honor that we have the opportunity to show them our appreciation for the job they do.

Let us introduce you to unseen heroes of the Lakeland Police Department - the 911 Emergency Communication Specialists.

The Lakeland Police Department is currently conducting a series of internal investigations and as a way to keep the community informed, we have compiled information pertaining to these investigations in one place.  Get the latest updates
