FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION 1 - Will I have access to my driveway?

ANSWER - If at any time we need to block a customer’s drive way, we will inform the homeowner when possible, to make provisions so we do not  inconvenience them.

QUESTION 2 - Will I be able to speak with an employee at the construction site if need be?

ANSWER - If at any time you should have a question or need to speak to someone on the job site, please use a safe distance and signal one of the employees. They will then come to you out of the work zone to assist you with any concern you may have. You will find our employees courteous and respectful, and willing to help you with any questions or concerns with the construction going in your neighborhood.

QUESTION 3 - Why are you installing different types of poles?

ANSWER - The existing wood poles will be replaced with steel poles.  These steel poles will be able to better withstand high winds to harden Lakeland Electric’s infrastructure against future severe storms.  This will be done in accordance with the National Electric Safety Code.

QUESTION 4 - Will any construction work take place on my personal property?

ANSWER - All construction work will take place within existing road right-of-way limits.  After construction is complete the ground areas around the new pole installations will be restored to the previous condition.

QUESTION 5 - Why are you changing pole locations?

ANSWER - Lakeland Electric must meet established Department of Transportation clearances for safe zones that mandate poles be placed at least 4 feet behind the curb.  All poles being installed are within the road right-of-way and the City of Lakeland Public Works Department would like to have room for future sidewalk projects that would be placed between the pole and the roadway curb.
