April 23 - 27, 2008 Top Gun Invitational Tournament All types of R/C aircraft models will fill the skies when the worlds greatest model airplane show gets underway at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. The aircraft at Top Gun are all works of art. In order to be able to participate in Top Gun not only the pilot needs to be good, but the plane needs to be an exact copy of the original. Top Gun pilots fly all kinds of aircraft. You will see Jets with real turbine engines, WW 1 and WW2 aircraft, multi engine, civilian, military...All types are here to recreate the looks and flight performance of it's full size counterpart.
Everything is being judged down to the smallest detail. It takes a combination of 2 scores to determine who the winner of a Top Gun class will be. All aircraft are first “Static Judged”, and then go on to the Flying part of the competition. |
