Get Involved with your Community & Local Government |
One of the best ways to become involved with your City government is to serve on one of its many Boards and Committees.
These advisory bodies give citizens the opportunity to provide input into the Citys decision-making process. The City, in turn, benefits from your expertise and experience.
By serving on a board or committee, you will be able to act as an advisor to the Lakeland City Commission on a variety of subjects, including building and municipal codes, housing, zoning, historic preservation, parks and recreation, planning, transportation, and community improvement programs.
Any resident who lives within the city limits is eligible for appointment to join a board or committee and interested citizens are encouraged to apply.
The responsibilities, terms of office, membership size and meeting schedules vary for each board and committee.
Members are free to resign at any time, should their personal circumstances prevent continued effective service. Individuals may serve on only one board or committee at a given time. A brief synopsis of all Boards and Committees can be viewed by clicking the "Committee List" link on the left navigation bar.
