Chronicle, Vol. 1, also known as Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits, is a greatest hits album by American swamp rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival. Released in January, 1976 by Fantasy Records, the album was released the same time as the single release of "I Heard it Through The Grapevine." It is the best-selling album in the band's catalog, making eight times Multi-Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The compilation was ranked at number 59 in the updated version of Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest albums of all time. It has sold 6,357,000 copies in the US since 1991 when Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales for Billboard.

SPCA Florida and Found Animals Foundation are partnering together to provide 200 free pet microchips on Saturday, July 26 from noon to 4 p.m. The free microchip clinic is limited to the first 200 cats or dogs and there are no income qualifications or limitations on number of pets per owner.

The Mid-Florida Society for Human Resource Management is hosting a special event and breakfast at Grassland Golf and Country Club on July 31. Our guest speaker will be Carol Quinn, CEO of Hire Authority. The session is titled "Top 3 Reasons Behavioral Based Interviews Do Not Work (and What To Do About It)." SHRM members and guests welcome. This event is open to the HR and business leaders.

EVENT COST is $25 for SHRM members and $30 for non-SHRM members. (price includes breakfast buffet, seminar, and a free book as quantities allow)

The Utility Committee serves as an advisory board to the Mayor & City Commission and is responsible for the review of Lakeland Electric financial and operational reports, fuel cost recovery, rate structures, contracts, programs and departmental initiatives. Utility Committee Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month.  Meetings begin at 1PM in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall located at 228 S. The HERO Revolution 501(c)(3) will be hosting our first annual 5K superHERO Run/Walk in effort to spread the word about bullying. There will be raffle give aways, cash prizes for best superhero costume, live anti-bullying performance by Marc Wilkes (Omega-Man), goody bags for each participant and a medal for each participant. The event welcomes adults, children, strollers and even your pet. Our mission is to share information about bullying to as many children and homes as possible. All money raised will provide our local schools and schools across the nation with the #1 anti-bullying/character development program, Omega-Man Schools and Friends.

Politics in the Park is right around the corner! This year’s event will be held at the Lake Mirror Center on August 12 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. This “old-fashioned” political rally gives participants the opportunity to meet with candidates and discuss campaign issues.  Federal, state and local candidates have been invited to participate. The upcoming elections promise to be exciting and Politics in the Park offers the community the perfect venue to meet the candidates and hear firsthand their positions on the many important issues facing our region.

Keeping with the theme of an “old-fashioned” political rally, there will be plenty of food, beverages and entertainment. Tickets to the popular VIP Party, hosted by CenterState Bank of Florida N.A. & Coldwell Banker Commercial Saunders, Ralston, Dantzler, are available now for $75 each. Participants at the VIP reception will have the opportunity enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, drinks and mingle with the candidates an hour prior to the official start of the event.  Individuals interested in attending the event following the VIP reception will be treated to food, beverages, candidate speeches and the ability to vote in the straw poll sponsored by Bright House Networks (18 and older).  General admission tickets are $20.
