The Lakeland Regional Health Foundation is holding their Second Annual Promise Run! The Promise Run is a 10K run and 5K run/walk, designed to raise funds in support of the fight against cancer. Please join us for the Visual Arts Departments last exhibit of the 2014-2015 school year on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Visual Arts gallery. The Blurred Vision exhibit will include pieces from all grades and will feature pieces created by students in grades 9-11. The reception will be held from 6-7:00 p.m. in the main rotunda outside of the art gallery at Harrison School for the Arts. This exhibit will run through June 4, 2015. No charge FREE event.

Harrison School for the Arts is excited to announce its Spring Symphony Orchestra concert to be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the main theatre. This concert will feature special events such as a specifically commissioned piece for Harrison and two winners from the concerto competition. Dixie Ortiz will be performing the first movement of Lalos Symphonie Espagnole and Michael Jean will be performing the first movement of Mozarts Clarinet Concerto. Harrison is pleased to present a special piece that was commissioned to celebrate Harrison School for the Arts 25th anniversary. The songs debut will be the culmination of a years worth of special activities, events, and performances that have taken place at Harrison during the 14-15 school year. Larry Clark, Vice President of Carl Fisher Music and the parent of two Harrison students, has worked with the orchestra students throughout the composition process. The evenings performance of the selection will mark the world-premiere of the piece. In addition to the concertos and the commissioned work, the orchestra will also be performing a variety of works by Hanson, Sousa, Tschaikovsky, Kister, Delibes, Brahms, Grieg and Stravinsky. Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for students/seniors and may be purchased at www.harrisonarts.com or in the theatre box office one hour before the concert.

On Friday, May 8th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., a group of talented performers and local businesses will welcome artists of the Polk Museum of Arts 2015 MIDFLORDIA Mayfaire by-the-Lake. Presented by Creative Director Ferdinand DeJesus and hosted by Tonys Studio B, Division Opera is an immersive performance art experience. The event is open to the public to celebrate the Arts in our community. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online through Eventbrite at: www.eventbrite.com. Attendees will have exclusive access to performances happening throughout the evening on and in the vicinity of Bay Street in Downtown Lakeland. Mark your calendars now for the annual MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire by-the-Lake 2015, which is set for 9 a.m. on May 9 and May 10. Mayfaire is a free community weekend that features children's art activities, musical performances and food, all centered around beautiful, award-winning art. Approximately 165 artists will exhibit on the picturesque shores of Lake Morton. Mayfaire Saturday Night, a free street party at the Lake Mirror Promenade, will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on May 9 and features  fireworks over the lake at about 9 p.m. Bring a blanket and chairs, and come and enjoy the night! Don't forget to visit LakelandRunnersClub.org to register for the MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire Classic 5K race. Please join us for our 2nd Annual, LGHS Band and Color Guard, Spring Concert and Silent Auction on May 12th, 2015.This will be a fabulous evening filled with music and entertainment featuring our Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Color Guard. This is a great opportunity to help show our support to these hard working students and keep music and arts alive in school. Turning Hatred into Love is the theme of the Harrison School for the Arts Chorus concert to be held on Thursday, May 14th at 7:30 p.m. in the main theatre. This concert will feature music related to the Holocaust. One of the most moving pieces is Holocaust Cantata, Songs from the Camps. These melodies come from different concentration camps and have been translated from Polish and Hebrew into English. The Harrison Theatre Department will perform dramatic readings before each movement is performed by the Harrison Singers. This concert will feature two Harrison alumni soloists, Marissa Pope-Beck, class of 1996 and Joshua Mazur, class of 2008 as well as Matthew Davis (current Director of Strings at Harrison) on cello. Please join us as we remember this tumultuous time in our history and pay tribute to those lost. Tickets are $11 adults and $9 students/seniors and may be purchased at www.harrisonarts.com.
