The Lakeland Police Department will host the annual Media Relations Day on February 24th, 2017. Several benefits can arise from holding and establishing a Media Relations Day to include, but not limited to; allowing LPD to build upon and enhance the media relations partnership with local media outlets through strengthened communications.

During this time, we will have a roundtable discussion followed by a survey which will give us feedback from you, for future training and roundtable discussions. This is a time for the media to share how we can effectively work together and understand the demanding needs placed on both law enforcement and the media in today’s environment.

Presentation

We will also be giving a 45-minute presentation on how the 3D Laser Scanner is improving the efficiency and effectiveness of crime scene investigation and crash reconstruction. You will step inside a crime scene in our community room and then see how it is rendered into a 3D image. You’ll learn how it’s used to take measurements, inspect evidence, and analyze blood splatter or bullet trajectory.Media representatives will be given a copy of the video and additional material if needed for a news story.

Date: February 24, 2017
