LAKELAND, FL (November 17, 2015) The City of Lakeland established new hours for Sunday alcohol sales during the Monday, November 16th City Commission Meeting. The new hours for Sunday alcohol sales within the Lakeland City Limits went into effect upon Monday’s vote during the regularly scheduled City Commission meeting.  The newly established Sunday alcohol hours are from 7 a.m.-2 a.m. effective NOW.

Monday’s vote immediately ends the special consideration for Sundays compared to other days and eliminates the alcohol sales “blue law” based on religious morality.  Before Monday’s City Commission vote, Sunday alcohol sales were reduced to beer and wine only as package sales from 12 p.m. Sunday to 12 a.m. Monday morning. Licensed bars and restaurants could sell mixed drinks as well as beer and wine during the same hours.

Now, alcohol can be sold in Lakeland every day of the week, both packaged liquor and sales for consumption on the premises of a licensed retailer, except between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.  See the ordinance language here:

LAKELAND, FL (November 3, 2015) - The City of Lakeland will host Sounds of the Season at the Lake Mirror Francis Langford Promenade on Friday, December 18th from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.  This FREE holiday season special event will be performed by various Harrison School for the Arts musical departments.  This open air event will take place under the stars with the ambiance of Lakeland’s Christmas lights that decorate the Lake Mirror Frances Langford Promenade during the holidays.

Past concerts have included selections from the chorus, the guitar department, the jazz department, and the Harrison symphony orchestra. This year's event will once again highlight music from a variety of cultures and genres, each presented for the audience in an effort to fill the evening with holiday spirit.

The Sounds of the Season music event will take place at the Lake Mirror amphitheater, (121 S Lake Ave, Lakeland). The event is FREE to the public and families are encouraged to attend. Food vendors will be on hand and the Garden Bistro will be open so bring a blanket and enjoy the lake setting with music under the stars.

Music on the Promenade is proudly sponsored by the City of Lakeland.  Parking is available at the Lake Mirror Center's parking lot and in the Iowa Avenue parking garage. No glass bottles within the park please.  For more information regarding the series, contact Kevin Cook at 863/834-6264.
