LAKELAND ELECTRIC FUEL DECREASE EFFECTIVE JULY 2016

LAKELAND, FL (June 6, 2016) - The Lakeland City Commission voted to decrease the fuel charge for Lakeland Electric customers $2.75 per 1,000 kWh effective for meters read on or after July 1, 2016.  The new fuel charge will be $34.25 per 1,000 kWh. After listening to a presentation at the Monday, June 6th Utility Committee meeting, staff recommended a decrease to the current fuel charge based on fuel forecasts in both the natural gas and coal markets.  With the fuel decrease, Lakeland Electric will have the lowest residential utility rates in the state based on the average use per household calculated at 1,200 kWh per month.

Base Charge            $  63.02                     $  63.02 (includes environmental charges)

Fuel Charge             $  37.00                     $  34.25 (includes fuel decrease)

TOTAL:                      $100.02                     $ 97.27

Energy & Smart charges   $50.99/1000 kWh

Environmental Charge      $  2.53/1000 kWh           

Total Base Charge         $63.02/ 1000 kWh


Missing/Endangered Person Larry Langford

Lakeland Police are searching for missing/endangered person Larry Langford, W/M, age 53, 5’10” tall and weighing 200 pounds.  Langford went missing at 0830 hours on 6/4/16 from the Lake Wire Retirement Center, 315 West Peachtree Street, Lakeland, Florida.  

Langford has a medical condition and is on medication.   Langford is on foot and was last seen wearing a blue shirt and khaki pants. Langford is bald with gray hair, beard, and mustache.  If you come into contact with Langford, or have information of his whereabouts, please contact police immediately. 

Police have attempted to track with K-9 and saturated the area in an attempt to locate Langford.

Main Street
City crews will be re-constructing drive way aprons due to the resurfaceing on Main Street between Interlachen and Lake Bonny Drive. No delays are inticipated however motorist are ask to use caution.

Lakeside Village Estates
City crews will be installing a new storm pipe on Linc Lane between Cassandra Lane and Elizabeth Lane in Lakeside Hills Estates. Linc Lane will be closed during construction. Motorist are advised to avoid this area if possible.

City to Live Stream Graduation Ceremonies Held at The Lakeland Center


Beginning on Friday, June 3, The City of Lakeland will be televising all Polk County high school graduations, being held at The Lakeland Center, this year. The coverage will be the same as seen by attendees in the Jenkins Arena.

The graduations will be viewable on line at www.Lakelandgov.net, (look for LGN Live Streaming) and locally in Polk County, on Bright House Networks cable channel 643 and Verizon FiOS channel 43.
