CHANUKAH FESTIVAL & MENORAH LIGHTING - Mayor & Sheriff to attend Chanukah Celebration

LAKELAND, FL (December 20, 2011) – Chabad Jewish Center invites members of the Polk County community at large to participate in the second annual public Menorah lighting in downtown Lakeland. The fun starts Tuesday at 5:00pm at Kryger Overlook Park, which is located at 108 S Massachusetts Ave, corner Main St in Lakeland.

Attendees will enjoy lively Chanukah music, chocolate Chanukah Gelt (coins), a Menorah kit and Dreidel to take home, and activities such as face painting, balloons, guess the Dreidels game, arts & crafts and a raffle. Hot, delicious homemade Latkes (potato pancakes) with applesauce and warm beverages will be served, compliments of Chabad. Hot dogs, Sufganiyot (Israeli-style jelly donuts), cotton candy and beverages will be available for sale.

At 6:00 p.m. the giant 9-foot Menorah will be kindled, overlooking beautiful Lake Mirror, followed by a few words from our honored guests, Lakeland Mayor Gow Fields and Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

This is a community-wide public event and admission is free.
