LAKELAND, FL (October 21, 2016) - A grease blockage caused a manhole to fill up and weep approximately 350 gallons of raw wastewater around the cover at 95 Lake Hunter Drive. The incident was discovered at 12:58 p.m. and reported to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The potentially affected area does drain toward a storm drain that leads to Lake Hunter and the City of Lakeland is testing the water at Lake Hunter. The grease blockage was cleared at approximately 1:35 p.m.

Any other information that may be helpful: Event terminated at 1:35 PM. City crews vactored out the manhole and cleared blockage. Area around site was washed down and the wash water vactored up as well. No property damage reported.


Lakeland Police Search for Armed Subjects

Lakeland Police responded to 940 Golden Rule Court on 9/3/15 at approximately 12:40 hours after a call from a resident.  The resident stated that two black males had knocked at the front door – when there was no answer they went to the back of the house.  When the two were confronted by the occupant of the residence at the back of the residence they pointed a gun at him and then fled.

Lakeland Christian School was placed on lock down until approximately one hour until police units arrived to stand by at the school.  Lakeland Christian School is now on soft lock down with officers there working to coordinate an exit plan that will not interfere with the search.

Dixieland Elementary is on lockdown at this time.

Police continue to search for the suspects.

One of the black males was wearing a white tank top and one was wearing a black doo rag.

Lakeland Electric has nearly finished all utility pole work in the Dixieland Neighborhood. During the remaining last phase of construction, customers may encounter brief outages as transformers and service cables are relocated. Residents will be properly notified whenever possible and workers will restore power as soon and safely as possible.
