Lien Search Policy

The City of Lakeland records all liens in the public record. If you are looking for lien information, we strongly suggest that you request a title search for any parcel of interest with the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Polk County, in order to verify any possible outstanding actions against that parcel. The Polk County Clerk of the Circuit Court maintains all recorded information against any parcel of property. You may reach them at (863) 534-4524.

The City Clerk's Office provides information regarding Code Enforcement Board liens. All requests for information on Code Enforcement Board liens must be submitted in writing to the City Clerk's office in one of three ways:

Please provide any/all of the following with your request:
  • OR, Bk and Pg numbers
  • Code Enforcement case number
  • Site address
  • Current and/or previous owner information
  • A fax number or e-mail address where we should respond

In accordance with the City of Lakeland's Administrative Policy on Response to Mail and Memoranda, that office will complete all lien search and payoff requests wihin four working days.

Again, the only guaranteed process is a title search. We strongly advise you to contact a title company or real-estate attorney.
