Note: The Stormwater Utility Administrator interprets, applies, and recommends modifications to related ordinances. Specific duties include coordination with the billing department to supply impervious surface areas calculations upon which billing is based. Use of GIS related applications and site visits to stormwater treatment facilities are common activities performed by this position. Applications for new and renewal credits are processed through this office. The SWU administrator will need to keep current with the development of utilities in other areas and states in order to continually develop the program. On the job training is expected for the individual assuming these specific duties. However, well developed knowledge and skills related to stormwater treatment and aquatic ecology/limnology will be requisite. This position is primarily office work. Meetings and field work represent about 20% of the activities. Activity directly related to SWU duties provides a consistent low level of activity once the process is mastered. There are, however, peaks of activity surrounding stormwater utility credit renewal periods. Other activities such as managing multiple projects, code enforcement, outreach, contract oversight, and field work make up at least 50% of the responsibilities. This position coordinates with the public, consultants, contractors, departments, agencies, etc. regarding the varied aspects of the job. Only parts of this job can be considered routine. Collectively, the work will vary to a great extent. Attention to detail and organizational, writing, and math skills must be well developed. Knowledge of basic statistics is a plus.
