All regular, full-time employees participate in the City of Lakeland Employee Pension Plan. In addition, Police Officers and Firefighters participate in supplemental pension plans. Employees may also contribute to 457 deferred compensation retirement plans. The City of Lakeland does not participate in Social Security and therefore does not withhold Social Security taxes from employee earnings.
