Sector Planning is “organized brainstorming” to develop preferred scenarios for future growth and redevelopment within a given sector of the city.
Sector Plans can provide a basis for:
- making near-term and long-term land use decisions
- forming redevelopment and improvement strategies
- identifying Capital Improvement needs
- updating the Comprehensive Plan
- developing “carrots and sticks” to implement the plan
- identifying the need for additional studies and plans
Sector Planning Steps:
- In-house data collection, analysis, and mapping
- Meetings with city departments
- Meetings with outside jurisdictions and agencies
- Distribution of a public survey
- Meeting(s) with public stakeholders
- Development of alternative/preferred land use scenarios and associated goals and strategies
- Plan adoption
