Sector Planning Overview

Sector Planning is “organized brainstorming” to develop preferred scenarios for future growth and redevelopment within a given sector of the city.
Sector Plans can provide a basis for: making near-term and long-term land use decisions forming redevelopment and improvement strategies identifying Capital Improvement needs updating the Comprehensive Plan developing “carrots and sticks” to implement the plan identifying the need for additional studies and plans
Sector Planning Steps: In-house data collection, analysis and mapping Meetings with city departments Meetings with outside jurisdictions and agencies Distribution of a public survey Meeting(s) with public stakeholders Development of alternative/preferred land use scenarios and associated goals and strategies Plan adoption
