Help for Public Service Agencies

The City of Lakeland awards approximately $160,000 annually to qualified nonprofit public service agencies and local government programs serving low to moderate income clients in the following categories:

  • Child Care
  • Drug Abuse Counseling/Treatment
  • Education Program
  • Fair Housing Counseling
  • Health Care
  • Homeless Citizens Service
  • Public Safety Service
  • Recreation Program
  • Senior Citizens Service
  • Special Needs

To qualify for funding, an agency must be tax exempt 501(c)(3).

Applications for funding are now available to non-profit organizations seeking to provide public service activities in the City of Lakeland. The 2019-2020 program year for Community Service agencies has been combined into one annual cycle. Both federal CDBG and local general funds are available from October 1, 2019- September 30, 2020.

Applications must be received by Friday, March 29, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Neighborhood Services Division, Housing Section, 1104 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33805. Late applications will not be accepted.
