On October 29, 2018, Lakeland Fire Department and Lakeland Police Department partnered up to create the inaugural Truck-Or-Treat event! The Halloween themed family event was focused on educating kids on fire safety and crime prevention, as well as how to stay safe while trick-or-treating. Attendees were encouraged to come in costume; visitors got to meet Lakeland firefighters and police officers, trick-or-treat at different fire apparatus and police vehicle “stops”, and learn lots about how to stay healthy and safe. There were candy and safety giveaways as well as fun activities like a scavenger hunt, a parade of costumes, and a costume contest with prizes.
We had an amazing turnout of over 4,000 people and Truck-Or-Treat became an overwhelming success! Check out the community photo album on our Facebook page.
Leaping Lena was frequented by many during Trick-Or-Treat night!
Guests got to explore the trucks and learn about Halloween safety.

Everyone was invited to the Lakeland Fire Department’s annual Open House on Saturday, October 14, 2017.
The event ran from 10 AM through 2PM at Fire Station #1 located in downtown Lakeland at 701 E Main St., off of beautiful Lake Mirror. This free and fun event to celebrate national Fire Prevention Week was a great way to learn more about fire safety and get to better know the Lakeland Fire Department.
Members of the department were on hand to give guided tours of the station and help guests explore the big red fire trucks. Leaping Lena, the department’s original 1938 Pirsch Fire Truck was also on display.
Guest got to see live demonstrations like the Firefighter Challenge and vehicle extrications featuring the Jaws of Life. They soaked up the fun taking in the many displays, photo booth, giveaways, and more! All while enjoying complimentary refreshments! And of course, no Open House would be complete without a visit from the Lakeland Fire Department’s lovable fire safety dog, Sparky, who was on hand for photos.
A full day of fun and excitement is waiting for you on Saturday, October 14th at Fire Station 1!
