  • How It Works

This summer, we want you to imagine your story with us and let reading take you on new adventures. To join the adventure, create a free Beanstack account and track your reading progress throughout the summer online or through the app. As you log reading time and complete activity challenges, you can earn badges and rewards! There are summer reading adventures for all ages and prizes as you complete challenges!

  • Get Registered

Register with Beanstack for our children's and adult summer reading challenges!

To create a new account, visit lakelandgov.beanstack.org and select "Register an Individual or Family." You will create your own personal reading account or a reading account for a child. You can register multiple family members--children or adults--once you are logged in to your account by clicking the arrow next to your name in the upper left hand corner of the screen and then "Add a Reader."

Select your primary Lakeland Library location and age to enroll in the Kids' or Teens and Adults summer reading programs. You can switch between reader accounts by clicking on the drop down menu in the upper left hand corner of the screen and selecting the account you want to view and use.

If you need assistance, please contact your local Lakeland library.

  • The Fun Is in the Challenges

Log in to your reading program using your Username and Password. Here you can access all information about your account, including badges earned and activities completed.

Click "Log Reading and Activities" in the upper left hand corner of your screen and select whether you want to log reading or completed activities.

    Kids' Summer Reading Challenge:

    • Select "Days" to log reading time. Select the calendar day(s) on which you read and click the "Log" button to save the reading days. Earn badges as you log reading days (1 badge for each 3 days of reading or being read to)
    • Select "Activities" to log completed activities. There are eight (8) activity badges that correspond to the theme each week of summer reading, but you can complete the activity badges in any order. Select the activity badge(s) and click the checkbox to indicate you have completed one of the two listed activities (only one of the two activities is required to earn the badge).

Once you've unlocked a badge, come in to the Library for your brag tag prize!

Adult and Teen Summer Reading Challenge:

    • Select "Minutes" to log reading time. Select the calendar day(s) on which you read and input time spent reading, and title/author information of any book(s) read. Click the "Log" button to save the reading time. Earn badges as you log reading hours (1 badge for hour increments 1-10, 25, 50, and 100 hours)
    • Select "Activities" to log completed activities. There are total of 11 activity challenges. Three (3) activity badges ask readers to complete activities to promote reading. The remaining eight (8) activity badges correspond to reading challenges, including exploring new genres. The activity challenge badges can be completed in any order. Select the activity badge(s) and click the checkbox to indicate you have completed the listed activity and provide any related information (book title, etc.).

Adults and Teens can also earn a Review Badge by writing and submitting a book review.

  • Prizes

Kids' Summer Reading Challenge participants who earn reading badges can come in to the library for a corresponding brag tag. Participants who earn all available badges--log and activity challenges--will receive a grand prize: a blank journal in which to write your own story!

Adult and Teen Summer Reading Challenge participants can earn badges for logging reading time, completing activities, and/or reading specific genres. After collecting eight (8) badges, you will be entered into a grand prize drawing! There will be a grand prize awarded at each library location, and participants can have a maximum of three entries into the drawing for a gift basket filled with gift cards for various Lakeland businesses and attractions.
