Give Back

Attention!

In preparation for upcoming construction, the Lakeland libraries will not be accepting book donations or have books for sale as of May 1st. Once the construction is complete, normal book donations and sales will resume. Thank you for your understanding.

Book Donations

The Friends of the Library accept donations of gently used books, DVDs, CDs, and other media to be sold in the Friends area. Revenues generated from the sale of used books help support programs and projects, including our children's story times, clubs (Books Sandwiched In & Knit One, Crochet Too!) and our Adult Craft night.

We gladly accept

  • Gently used books ( All genres)
  • Music
  • Magazines
  • Educational texts**
  • DVDs
  • CDs
  • LP Records

Sorry, we do not accept

  • Anything damp, damaged, or in poor physical condition
  • Textbooks (Older than 5 years)**
  • Encyclopedia sets older than 10 years
  • Outdated nonfiction (i.e. old medical/health or travel guides)**
  • Readers Digest Condensed Books
  • Any items previously owned by other libraries
  • VCR tapes
  • Cassette tapes

General Guideline: if you would not give it to a friend, please don’t give it to the Friends!

Don't forget that your donation is tax deductible. Library staff will sign and date a receipt. You, however, must determine the value of the donation and fill out the remaining portion of the form.

Donations should be dropped off at the Lakeland Public Library's Main Library at 100 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, FL 33801 during normal hours of operation. To view the Lakeland Public Library's hours, please click here.

Volunteer

The Lakeland Public Library loves its volunteers!

Adults can volunteer their time with the Friends of the Library book sale team and we offer volunteer opportunities for teens as well.
