It's A Deaf Thing Celebrates the Culture and Perspective of Florida’s estimated 200,000 Deaf. This program provides educational events and opportunity to celebrate Deaf issues, people, and culture.
The inaugural event, scheduled for Saturday, September 30 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, FL features products, and services. Additionally, an art and craft show showcasing products by and for the Deaf Community runs the full day.
A talent show at 6:00 PM is the grand finale to a full day celebrating the Deaf Community!
“It’s a Deaf Thing” is the only known event of its kind across the state of Florida, and is expected to feature more than 50 Deaf-owned and Deaf-focused businesses, and to celebrate the culture and increase awareness of Deaf issues. “I am excited to present this opportunity for the Deaf Community across Florida to have a place to gather and connect with each other and showcase their skills,” says David Lind, NIC, President, ProjectDEAF.
