PurposeEnsures that the Finance Department’s operations and reporting are in compliance with the policies, ordinances, and laws set forth by all levels of government as well as professional guidelines, rules, regulations, business ethics, and accounting requirements;
Provides timely financial information, including:
Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR);
Annual Budget;
Capital Improvement Plan (ten year);
Annual Report to Bondholders;
Works in close partnership with all City departments to ensure that financial and budgetary controls are followed and enforced as well as to provide assistance and reporting on financial matters;
Maintains accounting records for the City’s assets (excluding the Electric Department);
Monitors the receipt and disbursement of grant funds and ensures that these sources of funds are appropriately recorded;
Reconciles the City’s bank accounts;
Manages and reconciles the accounts receivable function (excluding the Electric Department);
Maintains and updates the general ledger system;
Coordinates the annual audit with the City’s external auditor;
