Title: The
Franklin Hotel
Description: The
Franklin Hotel was one of several small hotels and rooming
houses built along Kentucky, Tennessee, and Massachusetts
Avenues to house railroad workers and less affluent travelers
to Lakeland. Most of them were demolished in the late 1950's
and early 1960's. Only the former Orange Hotel on North
Kentucky, renovated for use as office and retail space in 1994,
remains as an example of the the small hotels doting the
downtown area.
