LAKELAND CENTENNIAL AND DIAMOND JUBILEE, RG3600 1959-1985

Scope and Content Note

This collection has been divided into two series as follows: Series I, Lakeland Centennial and Series II, Lakeland Diamond Jubilee.

Series I, Lakeland Centennial, contains material from the Lakeland Centennial celebration of 1985. An exhibit of Kent Hagerman's drawings was held. More information on the artist can be found in the Kent Hagerman Collection - RG2900. A Centennial poster is located in RG100, Oversize Box 8.

Series II, Diamond Jubilee celebration, documents the 1960 celebration of the 75th anniversary of the incorporation of the city of Lakeland. A time capsule was buried in Munn Park, but when it was dug up in 1985 for the centennial clelbration, it was discovered that most of the materials had been damaged by water.
