The Donovan Dean Collection was donated to the Special Collections unit of the Lakeland Public Library in 1991 by his son, Donovan Dean, Jr. Included are architectural drawings, blueprints, and photographs. The records are in good to excellent condition.

The collection includes drawings and blueprints for 178 structures in Lakeland by Donovan Dean between 1943 and 1964. Most of the structures are still standing, though some have been demolished over the years.

The collection has been divided into two series, Architectural Drawings and Photographs. Series I, Architectural Drawings, 1943-1964, consists of architectural plans and drawings done by Donovan Dean for more than 170 buildings which he designed in Lakeland. Series II, Photographs, @1950-1960, consists of photographs of finished structures designed by Dean.

The collection totals 15 linear feet.
