Scope and Content Note
Through the efforts of the Junior League of Greater Lakeland in 1967, the "Youth Museum of Imperial Polk County" was opened in one room of a local church. In 1968, the name was changed to the "Polk Museum at Lakeland: Science, History and Art." The center was renamed "Polk Public Museum in 1978, and in 1985 became known as the "Polk Museum of Art."
The records in this collection are not the official records of the Polk Museum of Art, but some of the published materials of the organization. The collection comprises .75 linear feet.
