Scope and Content Note

This collection contains materials that document the activities of the Woman's Club of Lakeland from its inception in 1912. In 1986 it joined with the Sorosis Club (federated in 1922) to form The United Women's Club of Lakeland, Inc. It is part of the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The collection includes minutes, financial records, and membership yearbooks, programs of meetings, photographs, scrapbooks, and newsletters.

The Special Collections unit also houses two published histories of the Women's Club in Florida: The Florida Federation of Women's Clubs, 1895-1939 by Lucy Worthington Blackman (374.2, B629f) and Leading the Way, A Century of Service, G.F.W.C. Florida Federation of Women's Clubs, 1895-1995 by Jessie Hamm Meyer (369.5, M612)

Records of the Sorosis Club are housed in RG5500.

Materials were donated by Kathy Harrison and Ellen West and are organized into the following series:
