Dear Property Owner/Manager,

Would you like to see a potential reduction of crime in your property and the City of Lakeland? It is the pleasure of the Lakeland Police Department to invite you to the FREE Seminar of Safe Watchful Active Neighborhoods (S.W.A.N.)

The Lakeland S.W.A.N. program is honest and direct. It is designed to be easy, yet very effective in reducing incidents of crime in rental properties. The program utilizes a unique three-part strategy which ensures the crime prevention goal, while maintaining an approach that is tenant-friendly. S.W.A.N. will educate property owners about crime prevention, applicant screening, drug nuisance abatement, along with many other benefits. After completion of the three-part program you will have access to resources and products that would have to be purchased otherwise.

The first phase of the program is attending the seminar, all that you need to do is fill out and return the registration form.

If you are planning to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, please have a designated driver.

St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most widely celebrated saint’s days in the world, but all too often it shares that great distinction with a far lesser one—too many people are driving drunk and killing or maiming themselves and others on the road as a result.  Even if you think you’ve had only a few drinks and are just feeling ‘buzzed,’ don’t kid yourself because Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving. Alcohol not only dangerously impairs your driving skills; it also impairs your judgment.

The Lakeland Police Department recommends the following easy steps, for a safe St. Patrick’s Day.
•  Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin and designate a sober driver.
•  If you happen to see a drunk driver on the road, don’t hesitate to contact your local law enforcement.
•  And remember, if you know people who are about to drive, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get to where they are going safely.
