On Monday, April 7, 2014, Interim Chief Giddens will host the monthly Chief's Chat. The "chat" is from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Community Room of the Lakeland Police Department, located at 219 N Massachusetts Avenue. This month attendees will hear a presentation about the function of the Emergency Communications Department.


    

Sometime between Monday, March 24, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 7:45 a.m., an unknown male gained entry into a vehicle parked in the parking garage at the Imperial Swan Hotel, 4141 S. Florida Avenue, and attempted to steal it.

The suspect is a white male with a bald head. He was seen wearing a dark blue colored shirt with “Crawford & 13” on it and tan shorts.

The vehicle the suspect arrived in is a white Ford minivan with tan lower trim.

Anyone with information on the identification of this individual is asked to contact the Lakeland Police Department at 863-834-6900, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, you must contact Crime Stoppers.

On Thursday, April 3, 2014, the Lakeland Police Department will recognize ten (10) students during an award presentation of the “Do the Right Thing” Program.  The ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Lakeland Police Department.


The City of Lakeland Police Department honors children in the community who distinguish themselves by their exemplary behavior. Nominations are received and children are recognized for their accomplishment, attitude, or outstanding effort, which makes them a positive role model for their peers.



On March 31, at 7:55 a.m., the Lakeland Police Department received a call in reference to an adult male found deceased in a ditch in the area of 1100 Prospect Street. The Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and canvassed the area for witnesses as well as looking for any additional evidence. The State Attorney's Office and  Medical Examiner responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The autopsy performed later in the evening revealed that the victim had been shot numerous times. Detectives are not releasing how many times he was shot at this time. The victim has been identified as Demetrice Tavontate Stacy, B/M, DOB 9/14/91, 1437 North Webster Avenue, Lakeland, Fla.

This is investigation is still ongoing at this time and there have been no arrest. Anyone with information can call the Lakeland Police Department at 834-8950.
