On October 9th, at 9:50 a.m., the Lakeland Police Department responded to Sikes Blvd, 80’ south of Lime Street in reference to a head-on crash. The at fault driver, Kenneth Edward Davis, 82 years of age, was driving a 2009 Honda, 4 door, south bound on Sikes in the north bound lane. The driver of the other vehicle, Jeffery L. Hardin, 54 years old, was driving a 2010Toyota, 4dr, and heading north bound on Sikes. Hardin attempted to avoid hitting the other vehicle but was unable to do so. The roadway was blocked for 1 ½ hours.

 

Each driver had a seat belt on at the time of the accident. Both drivers were transported to the Lakeland Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Davis was cited for driving on the wrong side of the roadway.

 


 

On July 25, 2014 at 11:39 p.m., Detective Billy Lane, was arrested and charged by the Osceola County Sheriffs Office for driving under the influence. Det. Lane was off-duty at the time of the incident and not driving a city vehicle.  On July, 26th Lane was placed on administrative leave with pay pending an administrative investigation.

 

On October 9, 2014, Lane submitted his letter of resignation prior to any final disciplinary action. Interim Chief Giddens completed his review of all the relevant facts and evidence presented in the administrative investigation.  The Chain-of-Command recommended termination in Lanes case. The sustained violations are:

 

1.     Unlawful Conduct

2.     Conduct Unbecoming

 

Lane is 42 years of age and has been employed with the Lakeland Police Department for 19 years.


On Saturday, October 4th, detectives continued to follow up on leads from the community and their investigative efforts in locating the suspect, Anthony Michael Jackomino. After conducting searches at several locations, around 7:00pm, the suspect was located by detectives at 725 Creative Drive in Lakeland and arrested without incident. Detectives also located his vehicle at this location and it was secured as it was believed to have been used in the offense. The investigation continues as detectives are still looking for the second suspect involved in the Armed/Occupied Burglary. The arrest of Jackomino within 48 hours of the incident is a result of the great work everyone did , to include the communities help and a crime stoppers tip.


UPDATE ***UPDATE

 

The suspect that was armed with the handgun in yesterday’s burglary and armed robbery has been identified by the Lakeland Police Department as; Anthony Michael Jackomino, DOB 10/8/79. Detectives worked throughout the evening and until early this morning following up on leads, obtaining a forensic sketch of the suspect and reviewing a tip from Heartland Crime Stoppers. Because of their diligent efforts, they  were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Jackomino. The charges are:

1.      Robbery with a firearm.

2.      Armed/Occupied Burglary to Residence With Assault

3.      Grand Theft

4.      Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon

Jackomino may be driving a 2003 silver Dodge Dakota pickup bearing Fl tag ARA-N69. He is considered armed and dangerous and if located, call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.

 

On October 3, 2014, at 12:16 p.m., the Lakeland Police Department responded to 2428 Cambridge Avenue in reference to a burglary in progress.  The victim, Matthew Lindsey, 28 yrs old, arrived home to see a grey pick-up truck in his driveway. At that time, the victim thought this was the pest control driver’s vehicle so he entered the residence. A Hispanic male came from a bedroom with a handgun and pointed it at Lindsey’s head and told him to leave. Lindsey exited the house and then observed the Hispanic male suspect and a black male enter he pick-up truck and leave. Lindsey then called 911.The suspects were last seen driving eastbound on Easton Drive. Lindsey advised that several items had been stolen from the residence.

 

Suspect #1 – Hispanic Male, approx. 5’08” to 5’11”, 180 lbs, with an unkempt beard, medium build, 24 to 30 years of age. Last seen wearing a grey long sleeve shirt and orange ski cap. See the above forensic sketch.

Suspect #2 – Black male, slim with no other description.

 

Suspect’s Vehicle – Silver Dodge Ram, older model, single cab, with a pressure washer in the rear.

 

The suspects should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information on their whereabouts should call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.
