LPD Investigates Third Homicide

On March 8, 2014 a relative arrived at 833 N. Florence Avenue to check on Gregory Allen Ross Jr., 19 years old.  At this time, Ross was found inside the residence deceased from a gunshot wound. The relative then called 9-1-1 at  8:23 pm. The Lakeland Police Department responded to the scene at 8:25 p.m. and located Ross who was later pronounced deceased by EMS at 8:37 pm.

The Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene personal responded to scene and canvassed the area for any additional evidence or witnesses. No witnesses or suspects have been located at this time and detectives are continuing with their investigation. Ross was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy which is scheduled for Monday, March 10th. At this time, no additional information is being released.

Monthly Video Series - LakelandPD "Up Close"

In an effort to better serve our community, the Lakeland Police Department is creating a video series to take you “Up Close” into the lives of the men and women who serve and protect. The members of the Lakeland Police Department take pride in the work they do and continue to serve with a Commitment to Excellence. The video series is designed to give the community a “behind the scenes” look into how LPD does business.

Each month the video will highlight a component of the department, giving insight into the operations of that unit. The video will first be shown during the monthly Chiefs Chat, which is held on the first Monday of the month. In addition, the monthly topic of the Chief’s Chat will coincide with the video.

The video is written and directed by Sgt. Gary B. Gross, filmed and edited by City’s Communications Department. The videos will be available on:

Crime Stoppers Bulletin - Grand Theft Suspects Save-A-Lot

        

On Saturday, January 11, 2014, two unknown persons stole a brown wallet containing a food stamp card, Florida ID and cash from the victim while she was at Save-A-Lot, 2021 George Jenkins Boulevard.

Suspect #1 is a white female approximately 30 years old, heavyset, long brown hair, wearing a white Nike shirt and dark shorts.

Suspect #2 is a heavyset white male, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information on the identification of these individuals are asked to contact the Lakeland Police Department at 863-834-6900, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, you must contact Crime Stoppers.
