On Friday, January 24, 2014 ten officers were sworn in as members of the Lakeland Police Department at a 3:00 p.m. ceremony. The ceremony was held at the First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Drive in Lakeland.

The recruits have now completed the seven-week Mini Academy, and will begin the next phase of their training as Lakeland Police officers. During the next 16 weeks, the officers will be on the streets with a Field Training Officer learning more about the department and community they have been sworn to serve.

In attendance at the ceremony were the family and friends of the officers, Lakeland Police Department staff and personnel, the City Manager, city personnel and Commissioners.

Police Chief Lisa Womack welcomed the new employees during the ceremony and told them “I look forward to the great work you will do for our community, and I know you will be an asset to the department.”
