March 31st Update – Second Arrest in Shooting
On March 30th, Christopher Jerod Rose, 18 yrs old, came to the Lakeland Police Department to turn himself in after he heard there was a warrant for his arrest. Detectives identified Rose as the third subject involved in the shooting at Willow Glen Apartments.
The investigation to-date reveals that the deceased, Stephen Brenor, Javarius Ray’quann King and Rose had planned that morning to “Hit some Licks”, street term meaning commit burglaries, robberies, etc. Earlier that morning, the three suspects broke into a vehicle behind Arby’s restaurant at 803 E. Memorial Blvd. The three suspects then went to the Willow Glen Apts and saw the victim, Shawn Plain, in the laundry room not knowing he was an armed security guard. The three planned to rob Plain at which time Brenor fired a replica handgun (pellet gun) striking Plain twice in the face. As the three suspects, all armed with handguns retreated into the parking lot, Plain fired his handgun hitting Brenor four times.
Christopher Rose and Javarius Ray’quann King have both been charged with:
1. 2nd Degree Felony Murder
2. Aggravated Battery
3. Burglary to a Motor Vehicle.
