BOETTCHER NAMED CITY OF LAKELAND’S DIRECTOR OF WATER UTILITIES |
LAKELAND, FL (February 18, 2008) -- The City of Lakeland is pleased to announce Gregory Boettcher as the Director of Water Utilities, succeeding Chuck Garing, who retired as Director in January 2008. Boettcher is currently the Director of Utilities for Polk County where he oversees the County’s potable water, wastewater and reclaimed water services.
Boettcher said, “I have over 20 years of experience with water systems including past positions in both private sector as a consultant and in the public sector overseeing and managing systems. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and expertise to the City of Lakeland.” He added, “This is a great opportunity and I am really excited to join the Lakeland team.”
City Manager, Doug Thomas said, “We conducted a national search that delivered a group of highly qualified applicants including several internal candidates. After a very thorough process that included Departmental tours, panel interviews and one-on-one interviews; we believe that Greg will build upon Lakeland’s Water & Wastewater strong foundation and enhance our operations as we prepare for the future.” He added, “We know that his previous experience leading the County’s Utility Department, his knowledge of the local regulatory agencies and his passion for municipal utility operations, makes him a great fit for our organization as we address our current challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Boettcher currently lives in Auburndale and will be relocating to Lakeland. He has served as the Polk County Director of Utility Services for the past three years. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri. Before joining Polk County he served as the Director of Public Works/Water and Wastewater for four years in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Other past positions include: Supervisor of Water-Sewer Engineering for Bowling Green, Kentucky; General Manager of Hannibal Board of Public Works for Hannibal, Missouri and he served as President/CEO of Consultant Services, Inc.
Boettcher will start as the City of Lakeland’s Director of Water Utilities on March 24, 2008 with an annual salary of $125,000.
