Express public library opens in South Lakeland
LAKELAND, FL (July 12, 2007) – The public is invited to the grand opening celebration of the new elibrary located in south Lakeland on Monday, July 16, 2007 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 5:00 p.m. The “express public library” is located at 4740 South Florida Avenue in the Lake Miriam Plaza (between Gosh and Lighthouse Christian store).

The elibrary may not be as large as a main library but it does offer many of the more popular services that the public enjoys including a bestseller collection, magazines, newspapers, DVD’s and music CD’s. The facility also has 15 public access computer stations and wireless internet service. “This is a new concept for us,” said Lisa Lilyquist, City of Lakeland Librarian. “We are excited about being able to meet the immediate needs of the growing population in south Lakeland.”

This new public library service is a joint effort between the City of Lakeland, Polk County Board of County Commissioners and the Polk County Library Cooperative.
