Gleckler Named Manager of Lakes & Stormwater for City of Lakeland |
LAKELAND, FL (March 24, 2006) -- The City of Lakeland is proud to announce Doug Gleckler as the newly appointed Manager of Lakes & Stormwater. He will officially start at the position on April 16, 2006.
Gleckler currently serves as Water Utilities’ Environmental Scientist over the Artificial Wetland Operations where he managed and maintained a 1,600 acre artificial wetland treatment system. His current duties include sampling programs, inspection and maintenance of the facility, project management and community outreach.
Gleckler has proven himself as a leader and he brings invaluable field experience to the position. Gleckler said, “Lakeland's water bodies serve as a focal point around which the citizens conduct their lives and our dependence upon them often goes unnoticed. As the Manager of Lakes & Stormwater, I look forward to the challenge of serving the diverse expectations placed on the lakes and associated watersheds.”
Gleckler worked as a biological scientist with the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission from 1991 to 1995 before coming to work for the City of Lakeland in 1995. He was involved in aquatic system restoration and aquatic plant management during his tenure with the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission.
Gleckler graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1985 with major course work in natural resource management. Gleckler also received a Masters of Science Degree from The Ohio State University in 1991 with course emphasis on natural resource management and aquaculture economics.
