Accompanied by live music from Street Level Jazz and a brilliant fireworks display coordinated by the City of Lakeland’s Parks and Recreation Department,
Kryger Park was officially opened to the public on Saturday, November 25, 2006.
Located on the west side of Lake Mirror overlooking the promenade
The park, dedicated in memory of Dr. Allen Kryger, was made possible through a generous donation, from his wife Lynn Fischer-Kryger and the Kryger family.
Dr. Kryger was a scientist and local businessman who specialized in the manufacture of citrus flavorings. He founded three Lakeland companies, was an active community volunteer, philanthropist and a dedicated family man.
Kryger Park serves a front lawn/urban plaza for both the Terrace Hotel the Lake Mirror Towers and is an ideal space ideal for quiet lunches in the park and intimate outdoor gatherings ..
The parks landscape design is Florida Friendly and incorporates the use of bougainvillea, Dr. Kryger`s favorite flowering shrub.
