The City of Lakeland announced that effective July 5, 2008 several parks will close at least one day per week due to budgetary constraints. In order to meet current budget reductions, the Parks and Recreation Department reduced seasonal staff that would normally assist in park operations and seasonal mowing.
Mowing cycles and trash pick up for routes will change from a seven day frequency to 10 days. For example, Park crews typically pick-up over 60 bags of garbage per week along the Lakeland In-Town Bypass and the duration between pick-ups will now be extended. Many Lakeland residents do not realize that a great deal of effort goes into keeping our City clean and beautiful.
The following park closing schedule is effective July 5, 2008 and will remain until further notice.
· Lake Bonny Park Closed Sunday and City Holidays
· Peterson Park Closed Sunday and City Holidays
· Lake Parker Park* Closed Sunday, Wednesday and City Holidays
*New Summer Park Hours 8 a.m. till 8 p.m.
*New Winter Park Hours 8 a.m. till 6 p.m.
No Restrooms or trash pick up available on Weekends at following parks:
· Woodlake Park
· Dobbins Park
· Beerman Family Tennis Complex
· Westside Complex
· Southwest Complex
No weekend Trash Pick up at following parks:
· 7th Street Park Jackson Park
· North Lake Wire Park Webster park
