FAA Advisory to Unauthorized Unmanned Aerial Systems/Drone Operators
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is warning about the use of unauthorized unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and their potential interference with emergency response operations. If an operator attempts to use a drone or other form of unmanned aerial surveillance (UAS), they may interfere with governmental emergency operations in the area.
In certain cases the FAA will allow special UAS activities to support significant and urgent government interests, but this should be considered and exception rather than a rule. Information pertaining to the FAA’s Special Government Interest Addendum is shared on PHMSA’s website.
