Notice Regarding Debris at the Polk County Landfill


Reminder: Debris Removal Crews will be concentrating on Lakeland's main roadways this weekend. Be sure to slow down and be watchful for our crews!


Debris Drop-Off

Citizens are showing up at our debris sites with the expectation to drop off their debris.  We are not accepting any debris at our sites from the public at this time.  Citizens are asked to leave debris at the curb for pickup or they can take it to directly to the Polk County Landfill. 

Currently, the County has waived tipping fees for residents.


Bartow, Fla. (Sept. 19, 2017) — Tipping fees (disposal fees) at the North Central Landfill for residential vegetative debris as a result of Hurricane Irma will be waived for 30 days, beginning today and extending through Oct. 18, 2017, unless otherwise extended.

The landfill hours for accepting this material will be as follows:

  • 8 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday
  • 8 AM - 12:30 PM Saturday

Residential vegetative debris will bypass the landfill scale and will be directed to a designated staging area at the west end of the Materials Recovery Facility.

To be eligible for the tipping fee waiver program, the following criteria must be met:

  • Personal vehicles (cars/trucks)
  • Trailers not exceeding 8 feet x 16 feet
  • Vegetative debris only (branches, tree trunks, shrubs, etc.)
  • Excludes commercial customers
