Plantae Fructum Plant Sale at Hollis Garden

Exotic Fruit Trees & Tropical Plants

LAKELAND, FL (June 1, 2018) - On Saturday, June 23rd Hollis Garden will host the Plantae Fructum exotic plant sale in conjunction with Jene’s Tropicals. The event will take place at Hollis Garden, 702 East Orange Street, Lakeland, Florida from 10 AM - 4 PM.  Jene’s Tropicals is a renowned nursery located in Saint Petersburg and they have the largest selection of exotic fruit plants and trees in the Tampa Bay area.  Jene’s Tropicals has been growing exotic fruit trees and tropical plants since 1987.

Hollis Garden is 1.2 acre neo-classical botanical garden complete with public art, manicured flower beds and ornamental fountains that overlooks Lake Mirror and the picturesque Frances Langford Promenade. Hollis Garden features over 10,000 flowers and plants in 16 distinctive areas that tell a story starting with the grotto and ending with the butterfly garden.  Florida’s domestication story begins in the Grotto where artesian wells bring forth water, the lifeblood of the land. Florida's agrarian roots are displayed by the many fruit, vegetable and tropical edibles within the garden rooms. The bowls and runnels form the garden’s spine and this feature represents the ability to control water. The garden becomes increasingly aesthetic through the red, yellow and white rooms based on the color of the plants and flowers.

Hollis Garden hosts several plant shows each year and each one highlights a specific theme.  Stacy Smith, who oversees Hollis Garden said, “We partner with some of the best known growers who share their expertise and inventory of hard to find exotic plants.”  He added, “Last year’s Plantae Fructum event was a huge success so those planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early because the very best inventory will go quickly.

A portion of the proceeds from all plant sales that take place at Hollis Garden benefit the garden’s perpetual care fund to help offset the cost of maintenance of the beautiful facility.
