In 1984, their plants began winning World Orchid Conference medals and one of their vandas (Vanda Deva ‘Robert’) was honored as the Grand Champion of the 11th World Orchid Conference. R.F. Orchids has won more than 1,100 American Orchid Society awards since 1985. The nursery specializes in vandaceous orchids but also grows many dendrobiums and other species as well. They have been recognized with prestigious awards from the Royal Horticulture Society in England, World Orchid Conferences, the Japan Grand Prix, the South African Orchid Conference Shows and many orchid societies in Central and South America. R.F. Orchids has been mentioned in Time magazine, National Geographic, the New York Times, Southern Living, Casa y Estilo, and many local and regional newspapers & magazines.

Hollis Garden

Hollis Garden is 1.2 acre neo-classical botanical garden complete with public art, manicured flower beds and ornamental fountains that overlooks Lake Mirror and the picturesque Frances Langford Promenade. Hollis Garden features over 10,000 flowers and plants in 16 distinctive areas that tell a story starting with the grotto and ending with the butterfly garden.  Florida’s domestication story begins in the Grotto where artesian wells bring forth water, the lifeblood of the land. Florida's agrarian roots are displayed by the many fruit, vegetable and tropical edibles within the garden rooms. The bowls and runnels form the garden’s spine and this feature represents the ability to control water. The garden becomes increasingly aesthetic through the red, yellow and white rooms based on the color of the plants and flowers.

R.F. & Hollis

Hollis Garden hosts several plant shows each year and each one highlights a specific theme.  Stacy Smith, who oversees Hollis Garden said, “We partner with some of the best known growers who share their expertise and inventory of hard to find exotic plants.”  He added, “We are very pleased to host orchid royalty and one of the world’s leading orchid authorities here at Hollis Garden. They will have some of the most beautiful specimens of orchids for sale and even if our visitors aren’t orchid connoisseurs, they will certainly be impressed with what R.F. Orchids puts on display.” For more information on R.F. Orchids, please visit their website: www.rforchids.com.
