Lake Morton Traffic Study Begins

A two-week traffic study began at Lake Morton this week after seven swans and one pedestrian were hit by distracted drivers around Lake Morton within the last month. Five of these swans were killed.

The Today Show...in Lakeland!

Guess who stopped by Lakeland on Tuesday? The Today Show's very own Dylan Dryer visited the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) hangar at Lakeland Linder International Airport today to film a live segment regarding The NOAA Hurricane Hunters and their specialized storm/hurricane monitoring equipment.

Commissioner Walker: Home Rule Hero

Commissioner Phillip Walker received a Home Rule Hero award from the Florida League of Cities at the Ridge League of Cities meeting on Thursday, September 13th in Haines City.

Florida League of Cities, Inc. "appreciates the individual advocacy efforts undertaken by hundreds of Municipal officials throughout the state. Each year, there are always a few who make an extraordinary effort; people who stand out for their high level of participation and effectiveness." Hence, the home rule hero award.
