December 16th City Commission Meeting Agenda at a Glance
LAKELAND, FL (December 12, 2019) | The Agenda at a Glance includes highlights for the upcoming December 16th City Commission Meeting Agenda. The agenda and backup materials are available to view and download at lakelandgov.net/agendas. The Lakeland City Commission will discuss the agenda items in detail at the Agenda Study session on Friday, December 13th starting at 8:30 a.m. The public can watch Agenda Study Sessions, City Commission Meetings as well as Committee Meetings live on Spectrum 643, FiOS 43 and streamed on lakelandgov.net/TV.
The Real Estate & Transportation Committee will discuss the donation of City-owned property located at 722 West Thomas Street and 625 West Valencia Street to the Keystone Challenge Fund for the construction of two affordable housing – three-bedroom, two bath units.
Public Hearings – Ordinances for 2nd Reading
This is when the public is invited to share opinions and concerns about these agenda items. There is a request to approve conditional use to allow a bar with indoor recreation uses on property located at 202 North Massachusetts Avenue. There are some stipulations and the conditional use can be revoked if certain conditions aren’t met.
This portion of the agenda includes a report on Affordable Housing Incentives and two items concerning Lakeland Linder International Airport – a supplemental grant agreement with the FAA for runway improvements on runway 927 and construction services for improvements to Bay 3 at the airport.
This portion of the agenda includes a proposal to vacate a public utility easement at 2743 Nevada Road. The City will vacate an old utility easement and the property owners will grant a new easement on the east side of the property. There is also a transfer agreement with FDOT to transfer a portion Pyramid Parkway between US 98 and Robson Street to the City of Lakeland.
During Agenda Study sessions, the City Commission will discuss each agenda item in detail for the upcoming Monday, December 16th City Commission Meeting. This public meeting takes place in the City Commission Conference Room starting at 8:30 a.m.
Lakeland Intermodal Update:
At 9:30 a.m. immediately following the Agenda Study session there will be a discussion regarding a FDOT project for an Intermodal Center. FDOT recently held public feedback sessions related to the Lakeland Intermodal Center Feasibility Study. There are two sites under consideration at this point, the RP Funding Center and the LPD Headquarters Parking Lot. The Lakeland City Commission will be asked to select a preferred location during this workshop.
