PUBLIC NOTICE: Rebuild Florida Critical Facility Hardening Program

LAKELAND, FL (June 16, 2020) | The City of Lakeland anticipates applying for Rebuild Florida Critical Facility Hardening Program (CFHP) funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support long-term mitigation efforts by assisting the State of Florida and its local governments in minimizing or eliminating the risks and reducing losses from future disasters. This program is being administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) thru the Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Program. A total of seventy-five million dollars ($75,000,000.00) in funding has been allocated by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) for the Rebuild Florida Critical Facility Hardening Program. DEO has identified the following types of structures as critical facilities:

  • Potable water facilities
  • Wastewater facilities
  • Police departments
  • Fire departments
  • Hospitals
  • Emergency operation centers
  • Emergency shelters

The City of Lakeland anticipates applying for a total of two million, six hundred and two thousand, six hundred and thirty-six dollars ($2,602,636.00) in funding through the CDBG-MIT Critical Facility Hardening Program.

Activities that are typically eligible for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, as well as specific additional activities as outlined in the State of Florida CDBG-MIT Action Plan for the program, are eligible projects if no other funding is available to meet the need. Applications are due in DEO no later than June 30, 2020.

The City of Lakeland anticipates submitting applications for the following facilities:

  • Application 2. Lakeland Electric Administration Building

    Estimated Cost of $518,380.00

  • Application 3: City of Lakeland Police Department
    Located at 219 N. Massachusetts Avenue, Lakeland FL  33801
    Estimated Cost of $400,000.00

  • Application 4: City of Lakeland Police Department
    Located at 219 N. Massachusetts Avenue, Lakeland FL  33801
    Estimated Cost of $213,380.00

  • Application 5: City of Lakeland Police Department
    Located at 219 N. Massachusetts Avenue, Lakeland FL  33801
    Estimated Cost of $69,500.00

  • Application 6: City of Lakeland Fire Department – Fire Admin
    Located at 701 E. Main Street, Lakeland FL  33801
    Estimated Cost of $310,000.00

  • Application 7: City of Lakeland Fire Department – Fire Admin
    Located at 701 E. Main Street, Lakeland, FL  33801
    Estimated Cost of $150,000.00

  • Application 8: City of Lakeland Public Works
    Located at 502 Evelyn Avenue, Lakeland FL  33801
    Estimated Cost of $925,376.00

    Total Amount $2,602,636.00

Comments from the public must be received no later than 12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. All comments will be considered, and proposed changes will be submitted to DEO.
