LAKELAND, FL (August 25, 2008) -- Disney Characters Winnie the Pooh and Tigger with join City of Lakeland Mayor Buddy Fletcher in the planting of a tree at CommonGround Park on Thursday, August 28th at 10:00 a.m. The event was rescheduled due to Tropical Storm Fay.
The Tree Dedication Ceremony will include characters from Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh, a new live stage show produced by Feld Entertainment. Kenneth Feld, the Owner of Feld Entertainment donated a live oak that will be planted in the honor of Winnie the Pooh as part of the CommonGround Park.
CommonGround Park is a dream that is fast becoming a reality. The park is currently under construction and it is designed to allow children of varying abilities and disabilities to interact together side by side in a creative play environment. The park is being built in the shape of a butterfly a symbolic representation of the individuality and unique character of every child.
It will be one of six such playgrounds in Florida that invites children of varying abilities to have the opportunity to explore and discover themselves and their friends. The playground is for individuals of every age and all abilities and it is designed so that it is fully integrated and universally accessible. CommonGround Park is located at 1000 East Edgewood Drive, Lakeland, FL.
Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh performs at the Youkey Theatre in Lakeland, Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh are on sale now. Feld Entertainment, Inc. spends approximately three months a year in Lakeland, FL rehearsing live family productions such as Disney on Ice and Disney Live. These shows then go on to tour nationally and internationally.
